It’s not every day you buy a home, and you certainly don’t have any time to waste with a useless real estate broker, especially when the market is on fire, interest rates are at historic lows, and inventory is flying. My partner and I hit the jackpot with Tika Van Den Hurk. We saw a home on Zillow and wanted to see it but we were not working with an agent; Zillow immediately put us in contact with Tika. She met us a couple hours later and after a few minutes, we knew she was the one for us. What we MOST appreciated about her was her listening skills; she asked us a million questions to get a really good idea of the type of home we were looking for, location, budget and other “wish list” items. More often than not, agents want to make a quick sale and will send/show clients homes that fall outside of their budget or specifications, BUT NOT TIKA! Everything she sent us and showed us in-person met our criteria. That said, she cares about her clients and is brutally honest; even if it looks like a quick sale and commission for her, she will be the first to tell a client “hey, you don’t want this home and this is why!” Anyone can google Tika and they will see she is a super broker and is one of the most well-known professionals in this industry in South Florida. But – for “our” sale, she made us feel like we were her only clients. After we saw the first house with her, it only took a couple of weeks to decide which home was going to be ours – and it’s the PERFECT home for us. Tika negotiated the price and was proactive at looking at comps to present to the seller’s agent. SHE KNOWS HER STUFF! Tika also has a plethora of contacts (home inspectors, closing agents, etc) that made the process efficient (and affordable). She CARES about your budget and what “you” want for “your home”. My partner and I are already thinking about getting another property here in South Florida and we will only use Tika. If we could give her 10 stars we would --- we never write glowing reviews like this for anyone or any business, but we are so impressed with Tika that we knew we wanted to write this. Buying your first home can be a scary process, especially when you live across the country. Tika made sure that it wasn't. From providing personal virtual tours while I was in California, to guiding me through the entire buying process, she made sure that I was comfortable and excited about my decision the entire time.
